Four friends in their early twenties start a rock band called Magik and struggle to make it big. Young and carefree, their music and friendships are the center of their collective world, until it falls apart and they drift away to their separate lives. A decade later, they are brought together again, in different life circumstances—with their families, jobs, and some old grudges from their long-ago split. We experience the complexity of their relationships, their responsibilities competing with hopes and dreams. Past and present are interwoven in this multi-textured musical and dramatic feast—along with great concert filming, the, powerful performances, and excellent editing. Because the stories are interspersed, the audience is brought into the fold of the characters’ personal lives slowly, as we learn just what did happen to Magik, and whether they will in fact play that one more concert. |
